Leather Managers Chairs Buying guide

When choosing the right leather manager, it can be very confusing as there is lost of different options styles and designs to choose from. The best option is to try first as not all leather manager chairs are the exact same and most don’t have the functions for working at a desk for 8 hrs per day, they look nice but in reality, you are looking for comfort and not looks.

Managers chairs come with different functions so when buying your leather manage chair please look at the best option that suits your needs

  • Does the chair have the correct functions?
  • Does the chair meet your requirements?
  • Is the seat and back independent?
  • Are the arms rest fixed or adjustable?
  • Do you need a head rest

Leather Choice

The Five Types of Leather

  1. Full grain. This is the highest quality leather available which consists of animal hide that is found just below the hair. The top layer is made up of a very tight grain pattern that tends to run vertically, which makes it extra strong, durable and resistant to moisture. Harvesting full grain leather involves scraping off the very top layer of hide, which means that it often contains small imperfections where the animal has been cut or scarred. For the true leather connoisseur, these idiosyncrasies only add to the allure of this expensive and somewhat scarce material.
  2. Top grain. This refers to the layer just below full grain leather and considered second best in quality. Top grain is essentially split from the top full grain layer, which helps to remove some of the blemishes. The leather is then sanded and treated to create a smooth surface. While some may prefer the look of top grain leather, the manufacturing process actually weakens the fibers and results in a less durable final product.
  3. Genuine Leather. The third level of leather quality also represents the most popular. This is the material that you will find in most retail stores because it provides a more affordable option for consumers. Genuine leather is what remains after the top layers have been stripped off. At this point in the hide, the grains begin to run more horizontally, which creates a looser grain. Again, this directly coincides with strength and durability. Often times, genuine leather is spray painted to resemble higher grade leather, but don’t be fooled!
  4. Bonded Leather.Basically, bonded leather is the bottom of the barrel. Manufacturers will collect leather shavings and dust and press them together to form a cheap, leather-like material that simply doesn’t withstand much wear and tear. In addition, bonded leather can actually “sweat” out some of the chemicals that are used to bond the materials together. You are probably better off purchasing fabric rather than a chair covered in bonded leather.

if you find a leather office chair that catches your eye, be sure to look into the kind of leather that has been used to upholster the chair. While a top grain model may be more within your price range, you also want to know exactly what you are getting before you spend your hard-earned money.

Faux Leather

Faux leather comes in two different forms: polyurethane and vinyl. These synthetic versions of leather can be tough, flexible and easy to clean, which makes them popular options in high traffic areas such as restaurants and hospitals. They are also very popular among entry level office seating. However, these materials also come with some significant drawbacks. Vinyl products are especially susceptible to cracking because of the plastic products that are used to coat and seal the polyester fibres. Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause vinyl to reach high temperatures, which also allows the surface to easily crack even under slight pressure. Some polyurethane faux leather products are more expensive than vinyl, but they also more closely resemble actual leather and are less likely to peel and crack. In fact, this material will even take on a soft feel over time, just like leather.

Advantages of a Leather Upholstered Seating

Office chairs are constructed using a wide range of materials. From wood and plastic to mesh and fabric coverings, there are a lot of options to choose from; however, leather chairs offer distinct advantages that are worth noting. Unlike wood, metal and plastic based models, leather office chairs include full padding throughout both the seat and back. If you spend more than a couple of hours a day at your desk, this padding will provide much welcomed relief.

Office chairs that are covered in plastic or vinyl-based materials tend to crack and wear easily. In addition, Leather provides a more durable material that will not only last longer but continue to look like new.

6 Steps to help reduce back pain.

06 Dec 2018

Sitting in an office chair for prolonged periods of time can definitely cause low back pain or worsen an existing back problem. The main reason behind this is that sitting, in an office chair or in general. When sitting in an office chair for a long period, the natural tendency for most people is to slouch over or slouch down in the chair, and this posture can overstretch the spinal ligaments and strain the discs and surrounding structures in the spine. Over time, incorrect sitting posture can contribute to or worsen back pain.

    1. Elbow measure
First, begin by sitting comfortably as close as possible to your desk so that your upper arms are parallel to your spine. Rest your hands on your work surface, If your elbows are not at a 90-degree angle, adjust your office chair height either up or down.
    2. Thigh measure
Check that you can easily slide your fingers under your thigh at the leading edge of the office chair. If it is too tight, you need to prop your feet up with an adjustable footrest. If you are unusually tall and there is more than a finger width between your thigh and the chair, you need to raise the desk or work surface so that you can raise the height of your office chair.
    3. Calf measure
With your bottom pushed against the chair back, try to pass your clenched fist between the back of your calf and the front of your office chair. If you can’t do that easily, then the office chair is too deep. You will need to adjust the backrest forward.
    4. Low back support
Your bottom should be pressed against the back of your chair, and there should be a cushion that causes your lower back to arch slightly so that you don’t slump forward or slouch down in the chair as you tire over time. This low back support in the office chair is essential to minimize the load (strain) on your back. Never slump or slouch forward in the office chair, as that places extra stress on the structures in the low back, and in particular, on the lumbar discs.
    5. Resting eye level
Close your eyes while sitting comfortably with your head facing forward. Slowly open your eyes. Your gaze should be aimed at the center of your computer screen. If your computer screen is higher or lower than your gaze, you need to either raise or lower your chair.
    6. Armrest
Adjust the armrest of the office chair so that it just slightly lifts your arms at the shoulders. Use of an armrest on your office chair is important to take some of the strain off your upper spine and shoulders, and it should make you less likely to slouch forward in your chair.

Following these simple steps will help in choosing the correct ergonomic office chair to help ease back pain when working for over 4 hrs per day. No matter how good your chair is please remember to take a break, go for a  walk to the other end of the office, or do light stretching to help the blood flow and help keep joints and muscle loose.

Are you ready for GDPR

15 May 2018

On May 25th 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will become enforceable. The regulation aims to give control over personal data back to individuals by strengthening and unifying data protection regulation within the European Union. The impact of the regulation will be far-reaching, as it applies to any company that holds or processes personal data of individuals residing within the European Union.

The penalty for GDPR non-compliance is up to €20M or 4% of annual global turnover. The cost of ignoring GDPR is too high, forcing corporations to revaluate the way they handle consumer data, and to install new processes and technologies enabling the consumers right to “own” their data.

“Nobody really knows what’s going to happen when the clock strikes midnight on May 25,” says Dan Frank, principal with Deloitte Risk and Financial Advisory Cyber Risk Services. “I have heard, speaking to a lot of my EU-based colleagues, that it’s going to take a while for regulatory authorities to conduct their investigations. We may see it take six, eight-whatever months in order for these regulatory actions to come out. Until there’s an incident, you don’t necessarily have a problem.”

In other words, even if you’re late to the game with your GDPR compliance program, you should still get started.
